The Nigerian Deposit Insurance Corporation has assured depositors of Heritage Bank of getting their funds in their alternate accounts within a week. Bello Hassan, the Managing Director of NDIC disclosed this at an ongoing press briefing. He revealed that the corporation is already in the process of repaying depositors of the bank and will not take 30 days as stipulated by law.

The Federal Government, through the Nigerian Upstream Petroleum Regulatory Commission (NUPRC) has said it would compel international oil companies to make crude oil available to Dangote oil refinery. This is in response to the claim by the Chairman of the Dangote Group that the international oil companies were not ready to sell crude to the refinery. The National Institute for Educational Planning and Administration (NIEPA-NIGERIA) has expressed worries over a recent report. The report indicated that 70 per cent of children in Nigeria cannot read with meaning or solve simple mathematical problems. The authorities of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia have initiated enforcing fines of up to 10,000 Riyals and deportation of pilgrims. The decision became necessary as it was realized that some individuals were performing the Hajj without a permit. The country’s Ministry of Religious Affairs, in a statement, said the no-permit, no-Hajj policy applies to Makkah city, central areas, holy sites, the Haramain train station, security checkpoints, screening centres and temporary security checkpoints. The Organized Labour has made it known that it won’t accept a meagre addition to the ₦60,000 earlier proposed by the tripartite committee on the new minimum wage.
