Court documents have revealed how the sum of $6,230,000 allegedly stolen from the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN), on February 8, 2023, was shared and invested into real estate. The funds, removed during the tenure of erstwhile CBN Governor, Godwin Emefiele, was said to be withdrawn for the “payment of election observers”. The Rivers State chapter of the All Progressives Congress (APC) has urged President Bola Ahmed Tinubu to declare a state of emergency in the state. A Federal High Court sitting in Abuja has denied the suspended Deputy Commissioner of Police, Abba Kyari bail. Justice Emeka Nwite, who presided over the court held that Kyari’s bail is at the discretion of the court in line with section 161 (2) of the Administration of Criminal Justice Act.
