The outbreak of Cholera in the southwestern state of Ogun has been confirmed by the State Government. It was revealed that the life of a 62-year-old woman has been claimed with five persons hospitalized. The Ogun State Commissioner for Health, Tomi Coker, said the incident happened in Ijebu Igbo, Ijebu North Local Government Area. According to reports, a source in the community said the deceased woman contracted cholera while caring for her infected child, who is now among the hospitalized victims. The death toll resulting from the outbreak of cholera in Lagos State has risen to 24. This is more than 21 earlier reported barely 24hrs ago. Lagos State Government, in a report on Friday indicated that a total of 24 persons have lost their lives to the disease as of June 19, 2024. According to the report, a total of 417 suspected cases have been recorded. However, only 35 cases have been confirmed so far across the 20 local government council areas in the state. The Federal Government have requested for presentation of documents for verification from owners of private jets in the country. The order was contained in a notice through the Nigeria Customs Service (NCS). “The Nigeria Customs Service announces a verification exercise for privately owned aircraft operating in Nigeria,” the statement read. “This exercise aims to identify improperly imported private aircraft without documentation, ensuring proper imports and maximum revenue collection.” The verification, which started on the 19th of June is expected to last for 30 days. The Nigerian Army on Thursday took delivery of two fighter aircraft, Bell Uh 1-H in Abuja. Torrential rains and flooding in Niger over three weeks have resulted in 21 deaths and impacted nearly 6,000 people, according to figures released Thursday by the interior ministry.
