The Naira has failed to put a stop to its ongoing free fall against the US Dollar. FMDQ data showed that the naira weakened to ₦1,500.79 against the dollar on Tuesday from ₦1490 traded on Monday. This represents ₦10.79 loss against the dollar compared to the N1,490 traded the previous day. Meanwhile, at the parallel market, the naira maintained its rate of ₦1,505 against the dollar. The development comes as foreign exchange turnover transactions declined further to $136.75 million on Tuesday from $152.00 million the previous day. Canada’s annual inflation rate rose to 2.9 per cent in May. In a report by Statistics Canada, it is largely driven by higher prices for services. The result was up from an annual inflation rate of 2.7 per cent in April.
