The 2024 Mock Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination is scheduled for Thursday (Today), March 7, 2024, according to the Joint Admissions and Matriculations.
Dr. Fabian Benjamin, JAMB spokes person stated on Wednesday that the clarification was required in response to numerous questions from candidates and the general public on whether or not HB pencils could be used as writing instruments in the exam room.
“Note that the Board has previously forbade the use of pencils and other prohibited materials due to the nefarious purposes that these materials are put to.”
However, the Board has approved the use of regular HB pencils for the next Mock-UTME and the main exam, which is set to start on Friday, April 19, 2024 and end on April 29, 2024.
As a result, candidates are reminded to make sure they have only one pencil and don’t carry any other forbidden items when they arrive at their designated testing locations.
In 2019, JAMB prohibited 19 items such as watches, pens, or biros, cell phones or other similar electronic devices, calculators, hard drives or other similar storage devices, books or other reading materials, cameras, recorders, and microphones and it had decided to make sure the exams adhered to international best practices.
