Oyo State Governor Seyi Makinde has announced that any officer of the Park Management System (PMS) shall be held accountable for any crimes committed by them.
During the inauguration of PMS officials led by Alhaji Tomiwa Omolewa, Makinde made this statement.
The governor cautioned the recently sworn-in executive members to continue upholding law and order in the state during his speech at the gathering held at the House of Chiefs, Secretariat, Agodi, Ibadan.
He went on to say that everyone who commits an offense will be held responsible for it.
Makinde emphasized that his government will not put up with any disturbance of the peace in the state while being represented by Mr. Olusegun Olayiwola, Commissioner for Local Government and Chieftaincy Matters.
The governor then tasked the PMS Exco with being proactive in seeing and resolving possible problems that can spark violence, assuring them of his administration’s ongoing support.
“May I seize this opportunity to advise that the Oyo State Government as your employer will forthwith hold you responsible for any act inimical to the peace and progress of Oyo State.
“It is noteworthy to observe that our parks serve as vital space for recreation, relaxation and community gathering, hence the need to hold accountable the managers of the various parks across the nooks and crannies of the state and to streamline park operations.
“Let me state categorically that the state will not condone any unwholesome act; drinking of illegal substance and other nefarious activities in the various parks.”
