In response to the most recent accusations made by former Remedies member Eedris Abdulkareem, Eddy Remedy said in an Instagram Live conversation with Daddy Freeze that Burna Boy deserved recognition for his contributions to the Afrobeats genre.
Eedris Abdulkareem chastised Burna Boy during his appearance on the Honest Bunch Podcast for claiming that no one in Nigeria cleared the path for him.
Burna Boy’s remarks infuriated Eedris, who had great commercial success in the 2000s and maintained that he should be credited for risking his career to defend the dignity of Nigerian musicians.
The seasoned rapper told the story of how he risked everything when he battled 50 Cent over the latter’s attempt to treat him like a lesser artist in Nigeria. According to Eedris, the incident cleared the path for Burna Boy and other future generations of Nigerian artists to succeed as well as helping them get the respect of national and worldwide businesses.
But Eddy Remedy took issue with Eedris’s assertion, saying the rapper could not expect respect from the younger generation if he did not treat his contemporaries with the same decency.
In the forty-minute interview with Daddy Freeze, Eddy Remedy accused Eedris of lying and betraying him for his account of the events leading up to The Remedies’ formation, rise to fame, and break up.
Rather than criticizing Burna Boy for claiming that no one helped him along the road, Eddy suggested that we give the Grammy winner credit for elevating Afrobeats to a new level.
Eddy also mentioned how much he wanted to include Burna Boy on his album of rebirth.
