The University of Abuja (UNIABUJA) has announced that at its 28th convocation, which will take place on February 17, 2024, more than 41 of its graduating students would be awarded first-class degrees.
In an announcement made yesterday in Abuja during a pre-convocation briefing, the vice chancellor, Prof. Abdul-Rasheed Na’Allah, stated that 9,172 students will graduate from the university.
Na’Allah provided a breakdown, stating that 1,276 postgraduate and 7,896 undergraduate students would graduate.He said that 1,845 people received second-class upper degrees, 4,842 second-class lower degrees, 1,075 third-class degrees, and 50 previous degrees.
“The total number of graduands is 9,172. As you know, we have different kinds of programmes, we are a dual mode University. The regular programme is producing 6,237, the centre for distance learning and continuous education is producing 971 and the institute of education also has 688.
“So, the total undergraduate students come to 7,896, post graduate school, Masters and PhD, we are graduating 1,276.
“Of all the undergraduate students, First Class is 41. Second Class Honours (Upper Division) 1,845; Second Class Honours (Lower Division) 4,842; Third Class Degree 1,075; Pass Degree 50, MBBS 43, PhD 151; Masters Degree, including professional Masters is 742; post-graduate Diploma 383.”
