The Dangote Petroleum Refinery has announced a plan to refund customers who purchased Premium Motor Spirit (PMS), commonly known as petrol, at rates higher than its recently reduced prices.
This initiative is part of the refinery’s efforts to ensure that Nigerians benefit from the price reduction and aligns with President Bola Tinubu’s Renewed Hope Agenda.
Key Details:
- Price Reduction: The refinery recently reduced its ex-depot price for petrol from ₦890 per litre to ₦825 per litre, effective February 27, 2025.
- Refund Plan: Customers who bought petrol at higher rates from key partners, including Ardova Plc, Heyden, and MRS filling stations, will be eligible for a refund. The refinery will refund ₦65 per litre on the over 200,000 metric tonnes of PMS purchased by marketers at the old price.
- Objective: The refund aims to ensure that the new, lower rate takes immediate effect nationwide and that no Nigerian pays above ₦900 per litre for PMS.
- Commitment: Dangote Refinery emphasized its commitment to providing high-quality, affordable fuel and condemned any exploitation of the new pricing structure. Consumers who purchase fuel above the advertised rate are encouraged to report to the refinery with their receipts for a full refund of the excess amount.
This move is expected to provide financial relief to Nigerians and support the country’s economic recovery efforts.
