Nigeria has officially become a partner country in BRICS.
This announcement was made by the Brazilian Foreign Ministry.
Nigeria joins other nations like Belarus, Bolivia, Cuba, Kazakhstan, Malaysia, Thailand, Uganda, and Uzbekistan in this newly established partner category.
Nigeria’s inclusion in BRICS comes after the 16th BRICS Summit held in Kazan in October 2024.
As Africa’s largest economy and with the world’s sixth-largest population, Nigeria shares common interests with BRICS members, especially in promoting South-South cooperation and advocating for global governance reforms.
