Mujahid Asari Dokubo, a former agitator in the Niger Delta, has been recognized as a traditional ruler.
Governor Siminalaye Fubara of Rivers State presented him with the staff of office and certificate of recognition, officially installing him as the Amanyanabo of Torusarama Piri in the Degema Local Government Area.
The Ijaw Youth Council (IYC) praised the coronation, describing it as a “divine and welcome development” for the Ijaws in Rivers State and beyond. They expressed confidence in Dokubo’s ability to use his experience to negotiate better deals for his people and the Niger Delta region.
Governor Fubara urged Dokubo and other newly recognized monarchs to use their positions to foster unity, peace, and development in their communities.
He emphasized that their roles should be seen as a call for service and responsibility, rather than opportunities for personal aggrandizement.
