The Federal Government has announced its intention to rehabilitate and upgrade unused and dilapidated federal buildings in Lagos.
The Minister of Housing and Urban Development, Ahmed Dangiwa, revealed this during an official facility assessment visit in Lagos.
Dangiwa highlighted that many of these buildings have been neglected over time, posing challenges and security concerns. The government plans to upgrade some buildings using its funds, while others will be rehabilitated through collaboration with private investors.
These private investors will then rent out the upgraded buildings to recoup their investments before returning them to the federal government.
The initiative aims to address issues such as lack of water, electricity, and general disrepair in these facilities.
The Minister also mentioned that a tripartite committee will be set up to ensure cooperation between the federal and state governments.
