The Federal Government has canceled the approval for the Osun State International Airport project.
This decision follows a request from the Minister of Aviation and Aerospace Development, Festus Keyamo, due to unresolved disputes surrounding the project’s relocation from Ido-Osun to Ede.
Governor Ademola Adeleke had planned the foundation-laying ceremony for December 13, but the Ministry of Aviation has asked for a postponement until the issues are resolved.
The relocation has sparked controversy, with a state government committee reporting that the original site in Ido-Osun did not meet basic aviation requirements, prompting the move to Ede.
The Ministry emphasized the need for efficient use of public funds and alignment between state and federal efforts before proceeding with the project.
