President Cyril Ramaphosa of South Africa has announced a new visa policy for Nigerians, allowing investors and tourists to apply for a visa without submitting their passports.
This announcement was made during the opening of the 11th session of the Nigeria-South Africa Bi-National Commission (BNC) in Cape Town, attended by President Bola Tinubu.

The new policy aims to simplify the visa process for Nigerian business people and tourists, including measures such as five-year multiple entry visas. Ramaphosa emphasized that this initiative is designed to create a favorable environment for Nigerian business people traveling to South Africa.
“Qualifying Nigerian business people can be granted a five-year multiple entry visa,” he stated.
Ramaphosa also pledged South Africa’s commitment to removing constraints on greater investment and addressing challenges faced by companies in both countries. He highlighted the strong bonds of friendship and economic cooperation between Nigeria and South Africa, noting that the two nations have a bright future together.
He acknowledged the Nigerian government’s reforms to foster a business environment that offers assurances to investors, including those from South Africa. Ramaphosa expressed his administration’s dedication to improving the ease of doing business in South Africa, enabling investors to operate, trade, and pursue opportunities in various sectors.
The South African leader also mentioned that Africa’s development and the challenges facing countries of the Global South would be firmly placed on the G20 agenda. He emphasized the importance of ensuring that no one is left behind in shaping global discourse and programs.
