Rodrigo Bentancur, the Tottenham Hotspur midfielder, has been handed a seven-match domestic suspension and fined £100,000 by the English Football Association (FA) for making a racist remark about his teammate Heung-Min Son.
Bentancur commented during an interview in June 2024, where he implied that all South Koreans look the same.
He later apologized, calling it a “very bad joke,” and Son accepted his apology, stating that they remain “brothers”.
Bentancur will miss the next six Premier League matches and the League Cup quarter-final against Manchester United. However, he will still be able to play in the Europa League.
