In a significant political development, three gubernatorial candidates have stepped down in favor of Governor Lucky Aiyedatiwa ahead of the Ondo State governorship election scheduled for Saturday.
The candidates, Dr. Ajibola Falaye of the Accord Party, Hon. Jenyo Ataunko of the National Rescue Movement, and Olaide Ibrahim of the African Democratic Congress, announced their decision during a solidarity visit to Governor Aiyedatiwa.
Dr. Falaye, speaking on behalf of the endorsing candidates, praised Governor Aiyedatiwa’s commitment to public service, his track record, and his performance in office. He highlighted the governor’s inclusive approach to governance and his efforts in maintaining peace and security in the state.
“We have been watching him, and his doors are always open to all,” Falaye stated, commending the governor for prioritizing the welfare of residents.
Governor Aiyedatiwa expressed deep gratitude for the endorsement, describing it as a quality decision made out of goodwill by the candidates and their parties. He welcomed their support and urged them to mobilize their supporters to vote for the All Progressives Congress (APC) on Saturday.
The governor emphasized the importance of continuity in Ondo State, highlighting the infrastructural development and relative peace achieved under his administration.
This endorsement is seen as a significant boost to Governor Aiyedatiwa’s re-election campaign, as the state prepares for a crucial election that will test the effectiveness of the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) and security agencies in ensuring a free, fair, and transparent process.
