Ruben Amorim has officially been appointed as Manchester United’s next manager after the club agreed to pay his €10 million release clause from Sporting Lisbon.
Negotiations were extended due to his 30-day notice period and arrangements for his backroom team.
Sir Dave Brailsford hinted that the deal was finalized before United’s recent match, and interim manager Ruud van Nistelrooy expressed readiness to support as needed.
However, Sporting will retain Amorim until the November international break, allowing him to face Manchester City in the Champions League.
“He will join until June 2027 with a club option of an additional year, once he has fulfilled his obligations to his current club. He will join Manchester United on Monday, November 11,” club statement read on Friday.
