President Bola Tinubu, in a new directive on Thursday, limited the official convoys of ministers, ministers of state, and heads of agencies to three vehicles.
He emphasized that no additional vehicles will be provided. This follows his earlier January 2024 cost-cutting measures, which included reducing both foreign and local trip entourages for himself and Vice President Kashim Shettima.
The statement, signed by Tinubu and released by Special Adviser Bayo Onanuga, also limits the security detail of these officials to five personnel—four police officers and one DSS officer.
Furthermore, Tinubu instructed the National Security Adviser to assess and recommend reductions in security personnel and vehicle deployments across military, paramilitary, and other security agencies.
The new guidelines, aimed at reducing government spending, are to be implemented immediately.
The directive underscores Tinubu’s commitment to cost reduction across all sectors of governance.
