Social media influencer Martins Otse, popularly known as VeryDarkMan, and his lawyer, Deji Adeyanju, have appeared at the National Assembly Complex to participate in a joint committee investigation into corruption allegations against the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) and the Nigerian Correctional Services (NCS).
The inquiry follows accusations made by controversial cross-dresser Idris Okuneye, also known as Bobrisky, who claimed that officials from the EFCC and NCS demanded bribes to allow him to serve his sentence in the VIP section of the Kirikiri Medium Custodial Centre in Lagos.
Bobrisky, who was convicted and sentenced to prison in April for naira abuse, alleged in a voice note shared by VeryDarkMan that his godfather, with the cooperation of the Controller General of the Nigerian Correctional Service, arranged for him to serve his six-month sentence in a private apartment.
The investigation aims to address these serious allegations of corruption within the Nigerian judicial and correctional systems.
