The Federal High Court in Abuja has adjourned the money laundering case against former Kogi State Governor Yahaya Bello, filed by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC), until October 30, 2024.
The adjournment was made by Justice Emeka Nwite as Bello moved to the Supreme Court to appeal the arrest warrant issued by the trial court on April 17.
During the court session, the defense counsel, A.M. Adoyi, highlighted that the arraignment of Bello was already part of an appeal pending at the Supreme Court. He requested the court to wait for the Supreme Court’s decision.
However, EFCC’s counsel, Kemi Pinheiro, SAN, criticized the defense for delaying proceedings and urged the court to act decisively.
Justice Nwite, after hearing both sides, stated he would adjourn the matter for ruling and arraignment on October 30.
