President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has commissioned the first set of locally produced Compressed Natural Gas (CNG) buses at the Presidential Villa in Abuja.
This initial batch of 20 buses was manufactured by Innoson Motors, a Nigerian automotive company.
The commissioning took place at the forecourt of the Presidential Villa, where some of the CNG buses were showcased.
President Tinubu temporarily paused the Federal Executive Council (FEC) meeting to inaugurate the vehicles.
The introduction of these CNG buses is part of the Federal Government’s efforts to alleviate the impact of the recent fuel subsidy removal on citizens. The use of CNG is expected to provide a more affordable and sustainable alternative to petrol.
Last week, Chief Innocent Chukwuma, Chairman and CEO of Innoson Motors, met with President Tinubu at the State House and promised that CNG vehicles would soon be operational in various cities across the country, helping to address ongoing transportation challenges.
