The University of Ibadan, Nigeria’s premier university, has stepped in to assist thousands of candidates who scored low or missed the 2024 Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination (UTME) through its open distance e-learning (ODeL) programs.
Prof. Babatunde Omobowale, Director of the Distance Learning Centre, announced this initiative, highlighting that candidates scoring below the cut-off mark of 200 can also benefit.
The centre, set to officially open on September 2, will provide a flexible, online blended learning experience, allowing students to attend live lectures in real-time from anywhere.
UI ODeL is committed to making quality education accessible, offering affordable tuition with flexible payment plans.
Students pay ₦50,000 to register and participate in all course activities, with the remaining balance due before exams.
Prof. Omobowale noted, “Candidates who scored below 200 in the JAMB UTME or did not sit for the exam can enroll in any of the university’s undergraduate programs offered in the ODeL mode, including BSc Computer Science, BSc Economics, BSc Sociology, BSc Psychology, BSc Political Science, BA Communications and Language Arts, Bachelor of Social Work, and Bachelor of Nursing Science, among others.”
The university also invites learners seeking inter-university transfers into its ODeL programs, provided they follow the institution’s rules. Interested students must submit a letter of interest and current transcripts from NUC-accredited programs at their current universities, whether private or public.
