Human remains have been found in the search for Jay Slater, local media in Tenerife has reported, nearly a month after the British 19-year-old went missing.
Spanish Authorities said “the evidence strongly suggests” the remains belong to the Lancashire native.
However, DNA tests will be carried out to establish the person’s identity, along with an autopsy to uncover the cause of their death.
The 19-year-old apprentice bricklayer from Lancashire had attended the NRG music festival on 16 June before heading to an AirBnB in the village of Masca with two men. He left the next morning and seemed to embark on an 11-hour walk back to his apartment.
A cafe owner was the last to see him, noting that he had inquired about bus times but chose not to wait two hours for the next service.
She then saw him leave the village, and his phone was last detected in the Rural de Teno National Park.
Earlier, he had called friends to report that he was lost and had only 1 percent battery left on his phone.
