The House of Representatives, Federal Republic of Nigeria, following a motion of urgent national significance sponsored by 88 members, has requested the Federal Government to halt the implementation of the Samoa Agreement until all disputed clauses are addressed and clarified.
House member Aliyu Madaki, moving the motion, emphasized the clause that emphasizes “gender equality,” referring to it as a Trojan horse that could contradict the country’s moral standards.
Additionally, the House directed its pertinent committees to scrutinize the contentious clauses of the agreement.
