The Nigerian Customs Service has intercepted a 40-foot container filled with assorted arms and nine containers loaded with codeine at Onne Port, Rivers State.
Displaying the seized items to journalists on Monday, Comptroller General of Customs Bashir Adewale Adeniyi revealed that the weapons were imported from Turkey.
The content was 844 rifles and 112,500 live ammuntions.
The arms and ammunition were said to have been skillfully concealed within items such as doors, furniture, plumbing fittings and leather bags.
