Arise Television, a Nigerian broadcasting company, has apologized for a mix-up in its video coverage of the recent Ojude Oba festival.
The yearly Ojude Oba festival of the Ìjẹ̀bú people has been a hot topic online recently, with people admiring the impressive showcase of their rich traditions, colorful culture, and stylish outfits.
The Ojude Oba festival, held on the third day of Eid-El-Kabir, is a key cultural event for the Yoruba people in the South-West.
Arise Television faced backlash after mistakenly using Igbo event footage in a report on the festival.
The error caused significant online reaction, prompting the broadcaster to apologize and correct it by showing the correct Ojude Oba clips, while reaffirming respect for all cultures.
“So that’s the wonderful video. Obviously, Arise was trending yesterday at number one due to the video mix-up. Again, we apologise, it was a technical mix-up. We at Arise respect every culture and have always celebrated this beautiful festival,” Arise TV said.
