Oladipupo Adebutu, the Ogun state PDP governorship candidate in the 2023 elections, alongside five others on Tuesday appeared before Justice Abiodun Akinyemi of the state High Court, Kobape Road, Abeokuta over seven-count charge bordering on vote buying and other offences in a case number AB/10c/2023 (FRN Vs Adebutu &Ors).
Adebutu was accused of inducement during the poll by security agents alongside other members of his party over the election which held on 18th March, 2024.
Rotimi Jacobs SAN, who is the prosecuting counsel noted earlier in his submission orally to withdraw the prior information supplied, and substituted the same with amended information, without any objection from the lead counsel for the defendants, Gordy Uche SAN.
Justice Abiodun Akinyemi, the presiding Judge, granted the first defendant, Adebutu bail in the sum of N1m with a surety in like sum who may be a family member or bondsman.
This is following the defense counsel’s plea with the court to allow the defendants to continue to enjoy bail on earlier terms which was opposed by the prosecuting counsel.
His prayer that the court should grant the first defendant, Adebutu, bail on self-recognition, saying he came to the court of his volition was upheld.
The case has been adjourned till Wednesday, February 7, 2024, for hearing.
