On Tuesday, the House of Representatives implored the Federal Government to release the food stocks right away and provide grain to Nigerians in need. The representatives stated that this is to address the issue of hunger in the nation.
The resolution was adopted after Mr. Ibrahim Isiaka, the member representing the Ifo/Ewekoro Federal Constituency in Ogun State, filed a motion of national urgent concern. Isiaka, who chaired the discussion, bemoaned the rising cost of cement while pointing out that Nigerians now face extreme hardships in living expenses “even though we have all the raw materials for the production.”
Speaking, he stated, “The House resolves to urge the Federal Government and stakeholders to immediately open the food reserves to address the hunger in our country.”
Additionally, he urged the federal government under Bola Tinubu to increase food distribution and production.
