Patients are currently stranded at hospitals across Nigeria.
The PUNCH reports that some patients at the Kubwa General Hospital, Abuja have been left stranded as medical personnel have declined to attend to them in keeping with the ongoing strike by the Nigeria Labour Congress.
Daily Trust, in its report disclosed that patients are currently stranded at the Muhammadu Abudullahi Wase Teaching Hospital (MAWTH) in Kano as healthcare providers are off duty observing the organised labour strike.
Government-owned hospitals in Ibadan, the capital of Oyo State have also left patients going back to their abode in disappointment after the staffs decided against showing up at their duty post.
The Organised Labour comprising of NLC and the Trade Union Congress commenced an industrial action on Monday, to protest the ₦60,000 minimum wage proposal by the Federal Government and the hike in electricity tariff.
In solidarity, a number of unions and associations; Judiciary Staff Union of Nigeria; The Academic Staff Union of Universities; Maritime Workers’ Union of Nigeria; The National Union of Electricity Employees; National Union of Banks, Insurance and Financial Institutions Employees; National Union of Air Transport Employees (NUATE); Air Transport Services Senior Staff Association of Nigeria (ATSSSAN); Association of Nigerian Aviation Professionals (ANAP) and the National Association of Aircraft Pilots and Engineers (NAAPE) have joined the nationwide strike.
